Bruno Navara (Segni, Rome, 03/04/1925 – Segni, Rome, 29/07/2006) became a priest on 08/14/1948. He graduated in classical literature and, after a few years of pastoral ministry in Rome, he became a teacher at the episcopal seminary of Segni, where he also held the position of Rector of the Minor Seminary, and at the secondary public school “D. Cesare Ionta” of the same city. In 1958, he founded and directed the monthly periodical “Il Cuore Della Diocesi”, and he also collaborated with various newspapers and cultural magazines in the Lepine area, and with the “Lunario Romano” of the Cultural Group of Rome and Lazio. In 1986, he was appointed parish priest of the Segni’s co-cathedral. He was also a member of the Lepini Artists Association. He was a scrupulous and passionate lover of the history of his city and its traditions, of which he revived events and characters in a significant series of pamphlets, monographs, and books that stand out for the rigour of their research and their simple and linear language. The “Laetare Signina Civitas”, “The year of Mary” and “Alma Mater sacerdotium” are three brochures written on the occasion of particular events that helped to remember and highlight local history. From 1975 to today Monsignor Bruno Navarra published the following monographs on local history, customs, and traditions, on an annual basis: La Cassa Rurale ed Artigiana di Segni; Segni, the co-cathedral, and the Bishops; La Segninità, a pleasant excursus on the Segnino dialect; Segni and its Etruscan-Italian temple (church of S. Pietro); Segni, the disappearing city; Life of Saint Bruno (from anonymous); The Looting of Segni; Segni and its districts; The story of Segni I; A century of history (1082-1183); The Virgin of Sorrows; Angelo Maria Fagiolo. He is also the author of books such as San Vitaliano, Filippo Michele Ellis, San Bruno Astense, The co-cathedral basilica of Segni, The Segni tourist guide, and the history of Segni from its origins to today.
